Computer Aided-Assessment in Our Education

Computer-aided assessment is a form of assessment that is based on using the computer whether summative or formative assessment (a type of exam used for learning and not for grading). The computer can be integrated to assessment to deliver, to prepare, or even to correct it. Computer-aided assessment is widely spread in our education without being aware of it. Technically, a computer typed assignment and an online research are forms of computer-aided assessment, in addition to online quizzes and exams which are greatly applied recently due to the fact that this kind of assessment can save time and allow learning and assessing from a distance.

With all the advantages and the facilities provided by technology, you can still find educators arguing about integrating technology education while they are extensively relying on at least one form of the computer-aided assessment for example, they don’t accept hand written assignments.
Technology is a part of our education whether we are aware of that or not, and if it’s not present in the teaching method, it will be clear in the assessment in one way or another.

  1. Hello sahar, I found this post to be very interesting as well as related to our course. Computers have become indeed a great piece of our lives and not only have they become assesment tools but also they have widened our view upon education, and have advanced our teaching skills whether we are aware of it or not. However, I believe that some sort of control must be set on their use, with the proper education of students upon its implementation it will become one of the greatest tools up to date.

  2. This topic attracted my attention, and I should acknowledge that this term" computer-aided assessment" was new for me, and I was not aware also that am using it,and that the terms of "typed assignment or online research" go under it. Thank you for this new information.

  3. Technology had made a lot of changes into curriculum. Using computer programs it's so easier to compute the grades and interpret the results. You can make graphs that summarizes the whole grades specially if we had large classes.

  4. integrating technology in esucation is very useful in many areas, one of what you had highlighted. technology is useful in inetruction as well and especially in science, students are more available for learning when they say topics demonstarted for them, topics that are difficult to have them observe it in real life as for example: showing the how blood ciculates in our body.

  6. Sahar first I would like to advice you as friend to make changes in your template, because the comments seems in white. Second I agree with you that the computer in our education is impotent and its become a one of necessary things to make our students more motivated, and integrated in the lessons. Teaching our students how to use the computer in a beneficial way, not just for social life. We have to show them that they have a big access in their hands and they can use it to be more educated. Beside we have to teach our students how to be in the safe side, how to pick up the trusted website to visit, and how to protect their computers from hackers, and viruses, and we should always be models for them.

  7. nice technology but the problem remains in how can we in Lebanon implement it. especially when we have low training programs to equip teachers with needed skills to integrate such technology into daily classroom. yet one advantage would be in solving the problem of cheating in one way and increase it in the other.

  8. its really an interesting topic Sahar. Actually i am with using such technology in the big sized schools and even universities that follow the american style exams. it saves time and effrot and its much more practical. it also reduces the errors and minimize subjectivity.
